]]>The post Decorate Your Apartment Home for Fall with These Tips and Tricks appeared first on Hampton in Highland Blog.
]]>Fall is here—and it means so much more than pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkins. Indoor hangouts and lovely colors make fall decorating fun and exciting. Your apartment can be even cozier than it was last year. Make those nights spent at home after long days well worth it by implementing a delightful theme. Our fall decorating tips are here – along with the changing colors!
Here are 7 tips to a lovely fall home:
Hang a Wreath
A store-bought wreath or creating one yourself is a great way to turn a door into a piece of fall art. A light orange bow on a blue or white door can really bring out the best in colors.
Entryway Welcome
Going in and out of the home happens a lot, and making an entryway unique creates a welcoming feel. Warm woods can give a rustic feel for fall along with red fruit, red blooms, and a matching throw pillow if you have a chair or bench.
Plaid Pillow Piles
Deeper colors and hues can be swapped for those lightly colored summer pillows. Burgundy, charcoal, caramel are all great colors. Plaid is a perfect blend with a throw or older chair. Sheepskin is great to go along with these new vibes.
Take It Outside
If you have a patio, swap out everything with fall-friendly colors. Fire pits stacked with wood, wooden chairs, red tablecloths, and more can make a patio cozy. Warm-toned glassware can really top it all off.
Hanging a Quilt
Bright hues can soften any wall with handmade textiles. Matching layers above a desk or mantle can be beautiful.
Get Out the Gourds
A very simple way to create the feel of fall is to add pumpkins or squash. Porcelain or yarn works, as well as the real thing. Accentuate your wooden furniture with these, especially tables. Entryways as well!
Use Earthier Serving Platters
Rustic, earthy serving platters, wooden spoons, and dark bowls give off a fall feel. Wooden cheese boards and wooden handles are perfect. Mugs in the morning, wine glasses at night

Beer streams from kegs, drinks are served ice-cold and crisp. Children play on playgrounds while vendors converse with park visitors. It's a beautiful day filled with laughter and joy. As the sun sets, all of a sudden –

]]>The post How Living Close to Work Reduces Stress and Improves Health appeared first on Hampton in Highland Blog.
]]>We all want to stress less and find more time in our days for things we want to do. Since the average American commute increased to a new high of 27.6 minutes one way in 2019, we spend almost an hour a day traveling to and from work. If you work Monday through Friday, this equates to 5 hours per week spent simply traveling to and from work.
What would you do if you could save that time? How would your life improve?
Here are the ways that living close to work reduces your stress levels.
More Time, Less Danger
It’s obvious that if you are walking to work or living within minutes of your workplace, you save time. But did you know that you are helping save yourself from danger too? The more time you spend in a car, the more likely you are to get in an accident. Accidents also cost more time and money.
The Environment Thanks You
Commuting pollutes the air unless you are walking or riding a bike. With speculation about climate change and air quality always in question, you can feel better knowing your short commute is helping.
Your Bank Account Just Got Bigger
Long commutes mean more money spent on gas. Less time in your car means fewer miles, putting more time between maintenance, repairs, and oil changes. Tires wear down. You are more likely to make breakfast and lunch at home with more time, meaning you are spending less money eating out. Time really is money.
Your Boss Will Thank You
Not only does living close to work make you more likely to be on time, but it also gives you more energy to focus on work rather than stressing out in traffic or thinking about your long commute home. You’ll find yourself improving productivity with this peace of mind.
Personal Health and Hygiene
With more time in the mornings and evenings, you’ll find more time for the gym and food prep. If you decide to walk or bike to work, you’ll get exercise during your commute instead of a headache. No one likes headaches.
Relationships Take Time
If you have a significant other or friends and family you’d like to spend more time with, you can do so. That hour a day could be spent with people you care about. Breakfasts, dinners, and happy hours just got a little more enjoyable.
Why do you love living close to work? What do you enjoy about your commute? Share in the comments!

]]>The post 5 Spring Cleaning Tips for People Who Live in Apartment Complexes appeared first on Hampton in Highland Blog.
]]>Spring has sprung and that means it's time for a good old-fashioned spring cleaning! If you're like most people, you probably dread the thought of spring cleaning. It can be tough to know where to start, especially if you live in an apartment complex. That's why we've put together this list of five spring cleaning tips specifically for people who live in apartment complexes. Follow these tips and your spring cleaning will be a breeze!
1. Tackle the grossest first:
This may seem like common sense, but it's important to start with the grossest cleaning tasks first. That way, you can get them out of the way and move on to the less-gross tasks. Trust us, you'll be glad you did!
– Start with the bathroom: The bathroom is usually one of the dirtiest rooms in an apartment complex, so it's a good place to start your spring cleaning. Be sure to clean the toilet, sink, and shower/bathtub. Don't forget to scrub those tile floors too!
– Move on to the kitchen: The kitchen is another room that tends to be pretty dirty. Be sure to clean all of your appliances (inside and out), as well as
2. Remember your pets:
-Pet-friendly cleaning products.
– Laundry: Pet hair can easily end up in your laundry, so be sure to shake out all of your clothes before putting them in the washing machine. This will help prevent pet hair from clogging up your drains.
– Furniture: Pets love to lounge on furniture, so be sure to give your couches and chairs good vacuuming or shampooing.
– Carpets: Carpets are another breeding ground for pet hair. Be sure to vacuum them regularly and If you have pets, it's important to spring clean with them in mind. Be sure to sweep and vacuum regularly to remove pet hair from your floors. You may also want to consider investing in good brushes like the Furminator!
3. Get to those pesky corners :
– Use a vacuum attachment: Vacuum attachments are great for getting to those pesky corners and tight spaces. Be sure to attach the appropriate attachment for your vacuum cleaner and go to town!
– Use a broom: If you don't have a vacuum attachment, no worries! A broom can also do the trick. Just be sure to wipe baseboards where dirt collects.
4. Take care of your light fixtures
– If your home has light fixtures, it’s important to take care of them. While they may seem like a small detail, light fixtures can play a big role in the overall look of your home. Plus, if they’re not properly maintained, they can cause problems like flickering lights or uneven light distribution. Luckily, taking care of your light fixtures is relatively easy.
– First, make sure to dust them regularly to prevent build-up.
– Second, check the bulbs and replace them as needed.
– Finally, if you have any broken parts, be sure to replace them as soon as possible.
By following these simple steps, you can keep your light fixtures in good condition and help ensure that your home always looks its best.
5. Put things in order
One of the best ways to spring clean your home is to simply put things in order. This means taking a few minutes to declutter and organize your space. Not only will this make your home look neater, but it will also help you stay more organized in the future. Plus, it can even help you save time by making it easier to find things when you need them. So, next time you’re spring cleaning, be sure to take some time to put things in order. You may be surprised at how much of a difference it can make.
These are just a few spring cleaning tips for people who live in apartment complexes. By following these tips, you can help keep your home clean and tidy all spring long. So, what are you waiting for? Start spring cleaning today!
