]]>Starting today, The Lake County Fair will feature a rodeo Aug. 9 – 10.
A Time-Honored Tradition
For many members of the community, the Lake Country Fair is a sign of home, good people and loved ones, and local fun and flavor.
Arlene Marcinek has is 30 years into helping with the fair, and still loves it dearly.
“It feels like getting together with your family every year,” Marcinek said. “It’s like a reunion because everybody comes. We catch up with each other year to year. Whether it be the carnival, the vendors, or the fairgoers, we keep in touch.”
The Events
The fair kicked off this weekend and will go through August 15th with tons of events, food, local businesses, and more.
One of the most exciting events, Aug. 12 – 13 is the West Creek Mud Runners Mud Drags. Drag racing in the mud is quite a unique experience!
To cap off the event and go out with a big bang, the International Demolition Derby will take place at 5 pm on August 14 and 15.
Daily horse shows highlight an array of animals, including bulls, goats, cattle, dogs, and more. There are even live births happening in the dairy barn, and last year there was a birth every day!
Besides the typical farm animals, the safari zoo is open daily and includes the opportunity to pet llamas, zebras or even kangaroos.
Pedal pulls, hot wheels racing, and tons of carnival rides with a full pass are available as well.

]]>With summer in full swing, we are also in the heart of farmer’s markets season. When it comes to food, nothing beats fresh, local produce from local farms. Farmer’s markets provide small businesses and farmers to showcase their items to the community, and it feels good knowing your money is going directly into your community.
To highlight these people and all of their hard work, we wanted to inform our residents about farmer’s markets happening right here in Naperville. From fruits and veggies to cheeses, honey, baked goods, sweets, and more, these are the best local markets for you to enjoy!
Miller Beach Farmers Market

May – September, Sundays, 11 am – 1 pm
Just 20 minutes north of Whitcomb Terrace, and within walking distance of Marquette Park Beach, Miller Beach Farmers Market is one of the best. This is a great way to get out on a weekend and see both a fantastic market and get out on the water!
This market features a vast range of local foods and craft goods, including farm-fresh produce, baked goods, ethnic foods, honey, plants, fresh-cut flowers, handmade soaps and body butter, cheese, jewelry, and art. Outreach and education are important, which is why we also sponsor local nonprofits and feature them in the market.
This not-for-profit market relies on vendors and fundraising. Volunteers are a huge part of our organization, an extension of the Miller Beach Arts & Creative District.
Come enjoy the sunshine!
